SMIU Innovative Ideas Competition – IIC 2019: Directorate of Student Affairs and Counselling is organizing SMI University Innovative Idea Competition (IIC-2019).  It is an opportunity for students from all the five departments, who have entrepreneurial and innovative mindset and who want to test their ideas. These students will have the opportunity to present their ideas, projects, product, prototypes and solutions to any business and social problems in front of well learned jury and prospective investors.
Submitted projects would be evaluated by a learned jury and top 10 ideas would be awarded cash prizes. All the ideas/projects would also get an opportunity to present their ideas to prospective investors and secure investment opportunities.
That's not it, students will also get an opportunity to avail space in SMIU Business Incubation Center and further develop and transform their ideas into successful Businesses.
To encourage and motivate participating innovators, Prize money would also be awarded to top ranked projects. Further, special prize would be awarded to groups having all female members and groups working on social entrepreneurship project. Prize money to be awarded is as follows:

Guidelines
For the 'IIC-2019', students can submit their ideas / projects which fall under the following categories:

  • Entrepreneurial Projects
  • Business Ventures
  • Business Plans
  • Products development
  • Service Ideas
  • Social Welfare projects
  • Technological development

If you have any idea/project which you think can be submitted in the competition but is not covered by any of the above-mentioned areas, then kindly contact the team for further clarification.

Innovative Ideas Competition - 2019 will comprise of 2 stages:
Stage 1:
All the aspired participants will register their groups and projects at the following links:
Once the submission deadline has passed, the innovations will be evaluated by learned evaluation panel.  
Shortlisted Ideas / Projects, after the evaluation will be invited to the 2nd stage.
Stage 2:
Participants shortlisted in the first step will be invited to 2nd and final stage of the competition. Participants would be first required to present a max 5-minute presentation about their innovation and answer evaluators' queries.
Evaluators will evaluate projects according to the following criteria:

  • Degree of Innovation ----------------------------------------------------20%
  • Potential Impact on industry and economy-------------------------------20%
  • Readiness for commercialization (prototype, business plan) ----------50%
  • Presentation -------------------------------------------------------------------10%

In the final stage, participants would also establish stalls of their team and display their idea. It is not mandatory to have a prototype ready for display but it would sure be an advantage as evaluators would be able to better understand the Idea. You can support your idea through posters and Multimedia etc.
Basic stall with a table and chair will be provided by the organizing committee. Multimedia shall be arranged by the participants. For every stall, a poster will also be provided by the organizing committee for which participants would be required to send their design to the organizing committee for print 02 days prior to the main event.

After Initial registration, participants shall prepare and submit their Idea / Projects according to the below mentioned guideline.
Project Submission:
Students who are interested in this event are required to form teams of up to 5 people. Although it is better to work in teams, students can also participate on individual bases. Students from different departments can work in the same team too.
For submission of project on the portal, following details are required: 1. Executive Summary 2. Business Description 3. Market Analysis 4. Organization (Management) 5. Sales Strategy 6. Funding Requirements (if any) 7. Financial Projections (Basic)
Your complete project plan should be of Maximum 3000 words (excluding Annexure). All the charts, diagrams and references shall be placed at the end of the document as Annexure.
