Passionate students participated and practiced their skills and logic and gave their best in attempting all the tasks given to them by the faculty. The competition consisted of two rounds. Students were given tasks in the form of questions and a time limit to determine their speed of codes. Each round consisted of one hour, the fastest one to get the task fulfilled was to be selected. The final round had three winners who did excellent codes, tested their logic, and produced productive outputs.

A project titled “Weapon Finder” was submitted in response to the HEC call for subject event. Subsequently, some ongoing final year project ideas were submitted for participation in this National Inter-University Competition. HEC team reviewed all the projects submitted by SMIU and finalized one project titled “Weapon Finder” for demonstration at subject event on 14th March 2018 at Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad. A team of two members including Dr. Kamlesh Kumar (Project Supervisor) and Mr. Fawad Khan, (BS-CS, Final Year Student) participated to represent SMIU in the event. It was really a matter of pride for SMIU being the only university participating in the said event from the whole Sindh province.
SMI University wins Jamapunji Inter-University Mock Trading Competition15 February 2018
Students of SMI University Karachi won 1st prize at SECP's Inter-University Stock Trading Competition. Students of department of Business Administration, Hadeeqa Murad Bux (Group Leader), Mahnoor Pervaiz, Aafia Yusuf, Maliha Saleem, Naeemuddin Buraro, and Muzammil Ahmed were advised and supervised by faculty member Mr. Poorab Sarhan, Lecturer at department of Business Administration. Students consulted professional traders in the market that involves research on the market, portfolio making, risk analysis and beta calculations.
As part of the Jamapunji Investor Education Campaign, the SECP organized a three-months long inter-university mock trading competition for the finance and management students of universities all over Pakistan. It started from October 2, 2017 and came to conclusion on December 29, 2017. Overall, 32 universities participated in the competition and winning teams of the competition were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 100,000, Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50,000 for first, second and third position respectively.
